Highlights
- Kingsley established Spring in 2019, noting that the increasing rate of data consumption has led to unprecedented demand for fibre broadband
- Fibre penetration in the UK remains amongst the lowest in Europe. At the time of Spring’s creation, over £20 Bn of capex was still required across the UK to reach adequate levels of connectivity
- Kingsley is working with an exceptional management team to develop the Spring proposition, which focuses on the wholesale provision of fibre networks, in underpenetrated areas that are hard to reach
- In 2020, Spring secured investment from family office and institutional investors to begin the roll-out of its fibre network, also securing partnerships with retail Internet Service Providers
- In 2022, Spring raised £155m from infrastructure fund River & Mercantile to build out its telecoms network further. The company is now developing fibre internet across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire
- Kingsley continues to sit on the board of Spring and retains a significant stake in the business
